Volunteer

We are a volunteer-run organization!

From race weekends to planning the events, the Indiana NICA league runs on volunteers.

Race Weekends:  Did you know that on average, a NICA Race requires 20 – 30 volunteers the Saturday before the race, and over 40 volunteers to run the race?

Race day volunteer positions include: stationary course marshals, race rovers and sweepers, parking support, registration support, and rider staging. Whether you’re interested in a 2-hour shift so you can see your child race, or a spot on an event committee, Indiana Interscholastic Cycling League would be delighted to have your involvement! Many positions do not need prior experience – only a desire to help put on a great event for our student athletes.

Please email volunteer@indianamtb.org, or sign up for individual race weekends on the Race Series page.

Other ways to donate your time or experience to contribute to our success!

Marketing / Graphics / Artists

  • Outreach Coordinators – Indiana’s BIG, and so is our love for youth cycling! Help spread the word about the Indiana League in your community! The Indiana League will provide the flyers/posters (you know, the awesome ones!), all you gotta do is hang ’em up.
  • Local Artists and/or Graphic Designer – You make art? Let’s talk. The league could use some creative talent for our merchandise and promotional materials.
  • Trophy Makers – Like the other NICA leagues, we’ll have hand-made trophies to award our podium finishers at the races. If you’re a crafty woodworker, metalworker, ceramic-maker, knitter, or anything else, let us know.

Race Weekend Fun

  • Food Trucks – Do you know of or have a food truck that would love to serve hungry kids and thirsty parents at an event? Are you a boy scout troop with a love for hotdogs? We can always use food and beverage trucks when allowed at our races. Reach out to see if opportunities exist for specific venues.
  • Musicians – Want to come out to our races and put the jams out? Sure, we could create a playlist on our computer and that’s that, no problem, but that pales in comparison to the energy and zest from live music. High school marching bands, rock bands, country and folk bands, rap groups… whatever. We’re down to promote your tunes at our races as long as they’re upbeat and unoffensive.
  • Race Day Crew – Want to help put on the races? Check out this list of job descriptions and let us know which one tickles your fancy. No experience necessary. As long as you’re stoked on getting more kids on bikes and want to be involved on the race weekends, we want to hear from you.

Business / Administrative

  • Advisory Board Members – The league is actively looking for people to lend their expertise and join our Advisory Board, specifically as Business Mentor, Communications Manager, and Treasurer.
